Size And Dimensions

This lovey blanket is about 20″ square, crocheted from cotton yarn. The size of the bear head is about 5″ in diameter. With the pattern given, you may choose to crochet a different blanket if needed; simply make fewer rounds to make a smaller blanket and more rounds for a bigger blanket.

I intentionally designed this blanket to be larger than normal for some reason. A larger lovey blanket remains useful as the baby grows, accommodating their increasing size and needs, making it an enduring companion for the newborn. Additionally, it provides ample surface area for snuggling and comfort, promoting a sense of security and coziness for children. This blanket is not only a comfort object but also serves as a traditional blanket for warmth. Moreover, it can double as a stroller cover or a nursing lap blanket when needed. Lastly, this blanket size used up all 3 balls of yarn with a little leftover.

How could a cute and free crochet lovey pattern be any better than it already is? Well, how about if you make it into a puppet! Your new puppet lovey will go from a naptime companion to a playtime partner-in-crime as your little one grows. How sweet!

If you have never crocheted a lovey before, then do yourself a favor and try one out! How to make the blanket bigger

To make a Zero lovey blanket bigger, you can adjust the size of the blanket by following these steps:

Firstly, make a gauge swatch using the stitch pattern from the chosen crochet blanket pattern. This will allow you to test the pattern and ensure you are happy with the size of the stitches.

Next, count the number of stitches and rows in your test square. This is an important step to understand the composition of your blanket and how it will grow in size.

Then, input your desired blanket size into a blanket size calculator. There are many free online calculators that can help you determine the exact number of stitches and rows required for your desired blanket size. This will give you an accurate understanding of how much bigger you want the blanket to be.

Finally, crochet your blanket according to the results from the calculator, ensuring you account for multiples in your stitch pattern. This step is crucial to ensure your blanket turns out the desired size.
