This wasn’t all for 1990, as young Jason starred next to Whoopi Goldberg and Sissy Spacek in the historical drama film “The Long Walk Home”. He already established himself as a rising star, and in 1992 he played young Michael Jackson in the mini-series “The Jacksons: An American Dream”. The following year he was Jerome Turrell in the TV comedy series “Thea” (1993-1994), while in 1994 he was the singing voice of young Simba in the animated film “The Lion King”.

Then in 1997 he was selected for the role of his career, as Marcus Henderson in the TV comedy series “Smart Guy”, co-starring Tahj Mowry and John Marshall Jones. He appeared in all 51 episodes in two years, and although the series never won a single award, it launched Jason to stardom.
