Elf on a Shelf Crochet Pattern: Crochet Your Own Adorable Elf for Christmas
This crochet pattern will fit a visiting 11” tall elf, with a slightly cropped profile, perfect for all situations, including hiding in tight spots, sneaking treats, and sitting on shelves.
We will make the front and the back of the jumper first.
With a 5 mm crochet and the green yarn, follow this pattern:
Row 2: turn, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in the next 14 ch. (14)
Row 3: ch1, turn: 1 sc in the next 14 st. (14)
Change to red yarn
Rows 4 to 9: ch1, turn: 1 hdc in the next 14 st. (14)
Row 10: ch1, turn: 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc in the next 10 st, 1 hdc dec. (12)
Row 11: ch1, turn: 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc in the next 8 st, 1 hdc dec. (10)
Row 12: ch1, turn: 1 hdc dec, 1 hdc in the next 6 st, 1 hdc dec. (8)
Row 13: ch1, turn: 1 sc in the next 2 st. (2)
Rows 14 to 17: ch1, turn: 1 sc in the next 2 st. (2)
Join with the red yarn on the last st of row 12, on the other side and work as follows:
Row 1: ch1, turn: 1 sc in the next 2 st. (2)
Row 2 to 5: ch1, turn: 1 sc in the next 2 st. (2)
Cut the yarn and keep it for later.
Make the back of the jumper following the same pattern.
Join both sides by sewing the shoulders first. Then, starting from the bottom of the jumper, join the sides of the jumper by sewing from rows 1 to 10.
With a 5 mm crochet and the green yarn, join the yarn at the top of the jumper and make 30 sc all around evenly. Make 1 sc in all the 30 st. (30) Cut the yarn and sew in the ends.
With a 5 mm crochet and the red yarn, join the yarn in the arm position and make 16 sc all around evenly. Make 1 hdc in all the 16 st. (16) Change to the green yarn and make 1 sc in all the 16 st. (16) Cut the yarn and sew in the ends. You can make more rounds of red hdc if you want the arms longer.
Reindeer Applique:
With a 3.5 mm crochet and the light brown yarn, follow this pattern:
Row 2: turn, starting in the 2nd ch from the hook: 1 sc in the next 3 ch, 3 sc in the last ch. Now working on the other side of the ch: 1 sc in the next 3 ch. (9)
Row 3: make 1 sl st in the first st of row 2. Starting in the same st: 1 sc, 1 inc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 3 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 3 hdc in the next st, 1 hdc in the next st, 1 inc in the next st, 1 sc in the next st. (15)
