Free Bunny Sewing Template: Create Your Own Cuddly Plush
I’m pretty excited about this stuffed bunny sewing pattern that I have to share with all of you today. It’s so easy to make. I put one together in just 30 minutes last night.
At that rate you can pump out an easy bunny or two a night to give as Easter gifts for a few weeks, if you’re so inclined. And I’m feeling like I just might be so inclined!
They are adorable and there are so many ways to make good use of them that it’s feeling like it’s going to be great fun to stitch a few dozen or so of them up.
These stuffed bunnies are funny, different, or just plain weird. What they have in common is that they don’t look like a realistic (or anthropomorphic) bunny. If you’re game to produce a fluffy friend that looks more quirky than the rest… Well, here you go!
Download and print the Scrap Fabric Bunny Pattern to follow along with the tutorial on “Inspiration made simple”. And don’t forget that any pattern, but especially this one, is merely a shape. The looks of your stuffie totally depend on your choice of fabric. Eclectic and colorful, like the example here, looks great! However, I’m also seeing a minimalist, Scandi/Waldorf-ish version that would totally work.
Enter a small snuggle bunny found on Gingermelon Dolls. Not sure whether it was the designer’s intention but the style ‘Kawaii’ comes to mind. Any fellow adults out there who can picture this on their key chain? Or as a purse hanger?
It’s a snuggle monster bunny! This one relies heavily on the fabric for its eccentric looks. The face is so sweet it deserves to be used as an inspiration even if you’re not doing a pillow like this one. It would look fab in combination with any other flat-faced free bunny sewing pattern.
For the youngest ones around, here is a bunny lovey. The sewing pattern is for sale on Etsy if you’d also like a full-fledged tutorial with instructions. Alternatively, to download the free printable pattern all you need to do is subscribe to the newsletter.

Thank you, I love to use denim scraps whenever I can.
Step 1: Fold fabric or quilt block WRONG SIDES TOGETHER
Step 2: Pin pattern pieces, template on the quilt block
Step 3: Cut out using pinking shears – this is so the raw edges won’t ravel when they get used, loved or on display. You aren’t turning these right sides out- so your pinking shears cut line is it.
Step 4: Using your sewing machine, Sew all the way around leaving the bottom open for stuffing. You’ll need to watch that your seam allowance is 1/4 inch
Step 5: Stuff firmly make sure you get little stuffing into those long ears!
Step 6: Sew the opening closed by hand or by machine on the bottom of the body
Step 7: Tie bow around the bunnies neck
Don’t overstuff the bunny. You don’t want a super hard or chubby bunny. It’s fun to have a little floppy.
If you want to add a bunny face – then go right ahead! You can use light pink embroidery floss, or black thread to highlight the eyes, nose whiskers, or highlight the bunny ears.

Choosing the right fabric for your bunny can change the final look and feel. Here are some great alternatives to try:
No matter which fabric you choose, make sure it’s 100% cotton or soft enough for cuddling if the bunny is meant for little hands. Mixing different textures can also give your bunny a fun and unique look!
And– we made these up using orphan quilt blocks as well. Super cute and a great way to get those lost blocks into a finished project. Check out the tutorial here.
